You're reading this because you connected to a hotspot or PPPoE service that runs on Kafunda. Kafunda is a product of Sprint S.P Telecom, and it's the software the internet provider (“the Organisation”) uses to run its network, take payment, and keep your connection working. This notice explains what we do with your data on the Organisation's behalf.
The Organisation providing your internet access is the one responsible for your service and for deciding how your data is used. Sprint processes it on their instructions, as their service provider.
When you connect to the network or buy access, we collect:
If you're a PPPoE subscriber rather than a hotspot voucher user, the Organisation may have recorded additional details when you signed up, such as your name or physical address. That is between you and the Organisation. Sprint stores it on their behalf but does not decide what they collect.
We do not collect your browsing history, the content of your traffic, or anything about what you do once you are online. Session records tell us how much data moved, not what it was.
The Organisation you are connecting through sees your session and payment records for their own network. Our payment partner, ioTec Pay, sees your phone number and the transaction details needed to process a mobile money payment.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to build a profile of you across different networks.
Session and payment records are kept for as long as the Organisation's account is active, or for as long as Uganda's financial record-keeping rules require for transaction data, whichever is longer.
Under Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you can ask to see the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected if it's wrong, and object to processing you believe is unlawful.
Because the Organisation is responsible for your service, the fastest way to exercise these rights is to contact them directly. If you contact us instead, we will pass your request on to the Organisation and help them respond.
For questions about your specific service or account, contact the internet provider you are connected through.
